We build decks, fences and outdoor living areas across Marshlands, on Christchurch's northern edge - from lifestyle blocks to new-build sections. Free on-site quote - we come to you, measure up, and leave you with a written price. Ten-year structural guarantee on every build.
Marshlands was drained swampland, so the water table sits close to the surface on a lot of sections here. For a deck, that means pile depth gets decided hole by hole on the site visit, not assumed. We're based in Redwood, a few minutes away, so first visits and callbacks are quick.
The suburb is split between older lifestyle blocks and newer subdivided streets. On a lifestyle block the deck is usually a big entertaining area, often quoted alongside boundary or paddock fencing. On a newer section it's a more compact deck and steps, in Kwila, composite or timber, sized to suit the house and the boundary.
We quote both kinds of section the same way: on-site, working out what the ground and the block actually need rather than pricing off a standard template.
H5 treated piles, with depth set after we've checked ground conditions and the water table on your section.
Larger entertaining decks, often quoted together with boundary or paddock fencing so materials and timing line up.
Compact decks and steps sized to standard suburban sections, in Kwila, composite or timber.
Opening-louvre roofs and covered patios added to the deck, popular on the bigger Marshlands builds.
Kwila, composite and timber decks - scaled for a lifestyle-block entertaining area or a compact new-build section.
Custom deck builder in Christchurch →Boundary and paddock fencing for lifestyle blocks, plus standard suburban fencing on Marshlands' newer streets.
Fence builder in Christchurch →Opening-louvre roofs and covered patios - popular on Marshlands' larger entertaining decks.
Louvre roofs in Christchurch →From market-garden-scale grounds to compact backyards, planned around the ground rather than against it.
Landscaping in Christchurch →1T Kubota, 750mm wide - useful for drainage work on lower-lying blocks and tight new-build sections alike.
Tight access digger work →Uncommon on Marshlands' flat, low-lying ground, but available if your section needs it.
Retaining walls in Christchurch →Free on-site visit, written quote, materials from the sawmill, build on the tools and a full site clean at handover. On a Marshlands section we also check the ground and the water table at the same site visit, so pile depth is right the first time rather than guessed at. Full process detail is on the deck building page.
How we build every deck →Pricing depends on size, material and site access - and on a Marshlands section, ground conditions can move the number more than they would on a standard dry section, particularly on the lower-lying lifestyle blocks. We don't quote fixed packages. Starting-from pricing and what moves the number is on the main deck building page - a free on-site quote gives you the real figure for your property.

Yes - we cover Marshlands and the surrounding streets in Redwood, Belfast and Prestons. Based in Redwood, a short drive away, so we're on-site quickly for a first visit or a callback.
It's something we plan for rather than a problem. Marshlands was drained swampland, and the water table sits closer to the surface here than on most Christchurch sections. We check ground conditions on the site visit and set pile depth to suit - a proper H5 Treated pile in the right hole handles it. What we won't do is quote a Marshlands deck off a standard dry-section assumption.
Yes - a lot of our Marshlands work is on lifestyle sections rather than standard suburban lots. We quote the deck and any boundary or paddock fencing together where it makes sense, so materials and timing line up across the whole property instead of two separate jobs.
Not the process - just the scale. Newer Marshlands sections, including streets that were subdivided out of the same land as neighbouring Prestons Park, run closer to a standard suburban size, so the deck and fence brief looks like most of our other new-build work. We still check the ground on the site visit either way.
Most residential decks run two to four weeks on-site once materials arrive. A larger lifestyle-block build, or a deck and fence together, usually runs four to six weeks. We confirm the timeline once we've seen the section and the ground.
